I got experience in the food industry and dreamed of opening my own restaurant.

My husband was just laid off from his job and I was working at Kaiser. I told my husband why not learn how to cook?
What gave you the idea to start your own business?
We came here twenty years ago and worked under the previous owner, who was also from our country of Thailand. As soon as that owner wanted to sell the restaurant, we decided to invest in the business we loved.
What gave you the idea of starting your own business?
I have always owned my own business, but this is the first time I get to actually interact with the community. In my previous job, I was sitting behind a computer – not something I wanted out of my work. So, I decided I wanted to open my own business.
While Bing Chiu Wong and Lai Mei Chen arrived separately to San Francisco back in the early 1980s, they shared the same dream of a better life in a land that offered opportunity not available in their native China. The immigrants– like many other newcomers before and since – believed that hard work would eventually translate to family economic success in the U.S.
